This pamphlet, designed primarily for use of pilots and air crewmen, is intended as a reference manual on Japanese aircraft and is complementary to standard recognition publications. It should be borne in mind that minor variations may exist in any specific type of aircraft treated. Silhouettes used here have been prepared by Technical Air Intelligence Center, NAS Anacostia, D. C. with the following exceptions: George 11, Judy 33, Grace 11, Irving Variations, Dinah 4, Peggy 1, Tokai, Rex 11, and Baka. This pamphlet may be taken apart, cut at binding edge and used in 8 X * chartboards. Includes photographs, silhouettes and some technical data and specifications. The attack on Pearl Harbor was a devastating blow for the US Navy. The Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) shattered the core of the Pacific Fleet. Its commander - Admiral Husband E. Kimmel - was relieved, and planning for global war shifted to Washington, DC, far removed from the realities of war in the Pacific. The Pacific Fleet's newly installed commander (CINCPAC, the Navy's abbreviation for Commander in Chief, Pacific Fleet), Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, faced a daunting set of challenges. First, he had to reinvigorate the morale of the Pacific Fleet and stop the Imperial Japanese advance. Then, once installed as Commander, Pacific Ocean Areas (CINCPOA) in April 1942, he had to prepare his forces for a trans-oceanic campaign that would allow the Allies to triumph in a hemispheric struggle encompassing nearly half the globe. Nimitz achieved these objectives by transforming the Pacific Fleet into what Rear Admiral Bradley A. Fiske called "a vast and efficient organism," a complex adaptive system that could learn, evolve, and overcome myriad obstacles in pursuit of a singular vision: victory in the Pacific. This supersedes "Operational Japanese Aircraft" of 15 July 1944.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - This work was originally published on 25 April 1945. It was a late WWII U.S. compilation of works on Japanese fortifications, a field reference guide which consists entirely of annotated diagrams and sketches. Included are: open emplacements (4 types); pillboxes (11); casemates (6); gun platforms (7); ready shelters (10); observation posts (4); command posts up to battalion level (5); anti-air installations (3 with 13 additional sub-diagrams); open communications trenches (1); underground passages (2 with 2 more breakout figures); revetments (5); searchlight shelters (2); and cut-and-cover personnel shelters (3). Many field work diagrams show multiple aspects of a given design. The information is sufficient model building of most or all of the examples given. (Please note that this is a high quality facsimile reproduction of the original typescript document. A half-dozen large, foldout pages have been reduced in size; they are legible but read less well than the majority of figures.).
