Typescript with many manuscript corrections. Bound in red cloth boards, titled by hand on front board "Early Otago Newspapers - Barbara L. Clapperton". [3] leaves + 79 leaves, numbered by hand at top corner + [1 (blank)] leaf. Typed on one side of leaves only. Page dimensions: 254 x 199mm. A thesis submitted for the M.A. in History, 1949 at the University of New Zealand (now University of Otago). "The first pamphlet to deal with Otago was the Otago journal, published in Jan 1848 and printed in St Andrew Sq. Edinburgh, by one William Forrester. In all there were eight issues of the Otago journal, which in form was a magazine of 16 pages, containing no advertisements but consisting of a number of articles, usually about eight [. . .]" - page 2.
