A Danish poet, dramatist and painter. Drachmann (1846-1908) is one of the most popular Danish poets of modern time . He unites modern rebellionist attitudes and a really romantic view of women and history. While he had great success as a writer, he continued to paint. He was a student of the Academy of Fine Arts, learning under Professor S°rensen from 1866-1870, to become a marine painter. At various periods he travelled very extensively in England, Scotland, France, Spain and Italy. After returning home, he settled for some time on the island of Bornhom, painting seascapes.
