C. folgte seinem Bruder Anton als Apotheker nach Zürich, wo er 1500 umsonst das Bürgerrecht erhielt, weil er die Stadt bei einem Kriegszug finanziell unterstützt hatte. Um 1500 Namensänderung in Clauser. Vor 1505 übersiedelte er nach Luzern und eröffnete im Haus Zum Kiel, in welchem er die heute noch erhaltenen Wandgemälde anbringen liess, eine Apotheke. Ab 1511 sass er im Gr., ab 1513/16 im Kl. Rat von Luzern. Im 2. Kappelerkrieg führte er die Luzerner Kriegsrodel. C. unternahm weite Reisen nach Asien und wurde 1519 in Palästina zum Ritter des Hl.
