[some foxing to fore-edge, otherwise a solid clean book; jacket edgeworn and age-toned, internally reinforced along spine with brown paper tape, tiny chip at bottom of front panel Satirical novel "of how two shades, Charles Dewclark and one Duffy, release themselves from a penance of wandering in space before entering the gates of Heaven. Their many adventures concern their effort to avoid the boredom of eternity, and at the same time accomplish an escape from the punishment of humanity." The first and only novel by this onetime journalist and sometime-New Yorker staffer; his only other book was a children's book about a circus elephant, "Remus," published in 1939. NOISBN.
