He then married another, and Miss Harris followed him to Washington and shot him in a corridor of the Treasury Building. Burroughs' brother was the president of the University of Chicago, and he took an active part in the prosecution of the case. Mrs. Abraham Lincoln sent flowers to Miss Harris while in jail.
