29 June 1882. Jean-Baptiste Auguste Clésinger (1814 1883), French sculptor and painter. L'Intransigeant was a French newspaper founded in July 1880 by Henri Rochefort. Initially representing the left-wing opposition, it moved towards the right during the Boulanger affair (Rochefort supported Boulanger) and became a major right-wing newspaper by the 1920s.

Condition: Good. Hand-colored engraving. 24.5 x 32 cm (sheet). Very Good, some light foxing in the margins and image, water staining in lower right sheet corner.

Le livre contient 12 superbes eaux-fortes hors-texte, sous serpente, signées Viset, pseudonyme de Luc Lafnet ainsi que illustrations photographiques hors-texte sur papier couché reproduisant le buste de Mme Sabatier, sculpté par Auguste Clesinger, et la sculpture du même artiste intitulée " Rêve d'amour ". Un des 450 exemplaires numérotés sur vélin de Rives ( n° 348 ), après 15 sur Japon impérial. Tirage total à 465 exemplaires réservé aux souscripteurs. Edition en partie originale. La plupart des billets de Théophile Gautier à la Présidente, paraissent ici pour la première fois. Rarissime, surtout dans un tel état de fraicheur.
