New Edition. 1614 (the third book dated 1615\0Large 4to. sized (12 inches tall) 3 books bound together - Each with a separate title page (with woodcut device) and pagination bound in most likely - contemporaneous vellum. The three books complete with index to follow. This new impression published just 75 years after Cardinal Bernardo's death in 1539. A scarce title. The British Library holds a 1528 edition (they have the author as the variant Bernardus Clesius), but apart from this copy there are no other copies in British libraries. In addition to the three books are 2 additional titles (which the British Library copy doesn't seem to have) - each with title and charming woodcut devices. Forma Constituendi census, in episcopatu tridentino et declaratio nonnullorum casuum, & contractuum illicitorum. And Riforma, et regolatione nuoua delle ferie, et vacanze annuali, published in 1609. Condition wise a pretty clean copy. Some worm along the front inner hinge (less so the rear) with a little loss to the hinge side of the front endpaper and a few small exit holes to the joints. Some ink marginalia - nothing heavy and the odd ink or red crayon mark to the odd margin reminding us that this book was once a working copy. The ink title to the spine simply reads 'Statuta Tridenta'. The odd other ink stain mark and one single and very small library paper plate pasted to the front endpaper. A little wrinkling to the pages - not heavy, but there. However very little (just the upper corners of the last few leaves) staining with tide-marks. A chip to one or two corners. No loss of text.
