1st Ed. Foreword by Rear-Admiral Sir Thomas J. Spence Lyne. X, 310 PP, plus 15 plates with b/w photos. Fp: A Stokehold in Pre-War Days. Blue cloth cover faded, gilt title on faded spine. Front gutter a little shaky and reinforced. Faint discreet name and address stamp of previous owner at top of FFEP, minimal foxing around edges. A very good clean copy of a scarce title. Image shows Frontispiece and title-page. 22 x 14. 25 years at sea: Merchant Navy: Joined the S.S. Tokio, of Wilson Line in 1908. Service in the Royal Navy up to 1920? Return to the Merchant Navy: on "Port Caroline" to New Zealand. . Reservist with Royal Canadian Navy.
