A Merchant Marine veteran and former football star, the 6-foot-six Clint Walker passed a Warner Brothers' screen test in 1955 and was immediately signed to the leading role in the new TV series "Cheyenne." Roger Smith is billed here as the "Star of (Warner Bros. TV series) "77 Sunset Strip" (apparently no one wanted Efrem Zimbalist, Jr, to take his shirt off, though the producers actually scored better on vinyl with the show's parking lot attendant, Edd "Kookie" Burns.) Smith here reprises songs he reportedly used to sing for coins on the beach at Waikiki, plus "Beach Time," written especially for this album by Ray and Dick Sherman. (Both those albums 1959.)
