    No Binding. Condition: Good. [ALS] Autograph letter signed, dated Boston, Aug. 3, 1882. Written on behalf of Sarah Brigham Jacobs, the letter concerns a scholarship of $5,000 for Brigham Academy students planning to attend the University of Vermont (except those attending the theology department). "President Buckham, dear sir, Mrs. Sarah B. Jackobs desires me to express to you her wishes as to the scholarship which she proposes to establish at your university. First she wishes to confine it to students who are not in the theology department." He ends the letter with: "I would add that this scholarship is intended for females as well as men". Letter signed Robert Codman. Sarah Brigham Jacobs (1809-1891), was the sister of Peter Bent Brigham (1807-1877), the founder of Brigham Academy and Brigham and Women's Hospital. 10 x 8 inches. Written in ink on lined paper, p. 3-4 blank. Creased at folds with small chip to foredge, effecting one word. Good. [UVM History].
