Volume 1 is in very good condition, very bright (blue) covers and gilt lettering to cover and spine, volume 2 a bit of the gilt on spine lettering is worn away but the front cover is very bright and letterin…g is very good, the hinges on vol. 2 are both cracked (paper torn exposing mesh below). This two volume set unfortunately does not include the separate maps which were issued in a blue flexible soft cover snap-close case. Both volumes have previous owners name in ink (after "This book belongs to") at top of front paste-downs (inside front covers). Below name, also in ink in both volumes, is written "1st Lt Co I 148th Inf" and under that in volume 2 written "1917-1918". Both volumes have book plates on ffep, but they were placed by a later (different name) owner.
