Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. SEVEN PILLARS OF WISDOM A TRIUMPH BY T.E. LAWRENCE 1935 1ST TRADE EDITION LARGE HC. I am pleased to be able to offer one of those books which has always seemed to attract the vintage book collector, namely: Seven Pillars of Wisdom A Triumph by T. E. Lawrence. This book is the description of Lawrence's time spent as military advisor to the Bedouin forces during the revolt against the Ottoman Turks between 1916 and 1918. It was privately printed at first in 1926, before being released commercially in 1935 in this edition. Colonel Thomas Edward Lawrence (1888-1935) was a British army officer, diplomat and archaeologist renowned for the role he played during the Arab Revolt. The scope of his work and his writings inspired the nickname 'Lawrence of Arabia'. This is a first trade U.S. edition and I believe, in its First Printing. The book is bound in tan buckram boards with crossed gilt swords on the cover and gilt titles on the spine. It is profusely illustrated throughout with, by my count, over 50 full plates, and with four full-page maps. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled but the gilt of the decorations and titles still shows up well. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages and plates are clean and bright throughout. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
