Described as an 'Original Phantom Mystery' and 'an original story especially written for Phantom Books' but this was first published in the US by Ace as a Double in 1953 where it was paired with 'Fear No More' by Leslie Edgley There is a heavy three inch crease to the bottom left corner of the back cover but the covers otherwise have only slight edge wear. Pages browned with some spotting to the final page and a little creasing to the bottom corners of the last few pages but they are otherwise unmarked. First printing. Postage charge will be reduced by £1.50 when the order is processed.

The Fischer novel was originally published in hard covers by Doubleday in 1944 under the title Quoth the Raven. The first paperback edition was digest size and published by Lawrence E. Spivak/ American Mercury Mysteries. Both that and this edition are abridged from the original text. The Colton cover has a one inch crease at the top corner and another three inch surface crease at the bottom. The text block protrudes a little at the right side. Otherwise only light edge rubbing to the covers. Browning to the page edges. The first page of the Colton novel has a small number stamped on it and a small edge chip. The pages are browned but otherwise unmarked. First printing.
