Manuscript / Paper Collectible Signed
Softcover. 8" x 12." Dated April 17, 1920. Rare early Preferred Stock Certificate for a precursor to Columbia Records and the Columbia Broadcasting System [CBS] signed by the company vice president and the company assistant treasurer. The Columbia Graphophone Company, initially formed as the Columbia Phonograph Company in 1887, was a major player in the early history of recorded sound. Founded by Edward D. Easton, the company initially focused on selling and servicing phonographs and cylinders, including its own recordings. Later, it transitioned to selling disc records, competing with other giants like Edison and Victor. The company's influence grew, culminating in a merger with the English Columbia Graphophone Company and eventual acquisition by CBS, becoming a key part of the global music industry. Very Good with light handling and two light vertical creases.
