Mounted Photograph. Condition: Very Good. A horse-drawn Viking parade float with 16 "Vikings" aboard celebrating "Leif Erikson - Discoverer of America - Year 1000" as they stop to pose with parade officials gathered at bottom left of image. This photo appears to have been taken at the foot of Baker street just below the CPR Station Managers house, prior to commencing to parade up the wooden sidewak-lined Baker Street. Date of 1900 inferred from the date ". YEAR 1000" on banner, which would have been at the time, a 900 year anniversary celebration for Mr. Erikson. Silver gelatin photograph measuring 7-1/2 x 9-3/4 inches wide, card mount measures 11-3 /4 x 13-7/8 inches wide, printed at lower right corner is "Columbia Studio Nelson B.C." Photograph has two small chips from right side, card mount has a few edge bumps, traces of soil and an abrasion on right side near chip in photo, verso w. a name and stock number in pencil. A nice image of some pretty intense looking characters, all about to enjoy a horse-drawn celebration through Nelson, BC c. 1900.
