Corners worn and rubbed, moderate wear to spine, spine ends and corners. Scratch to front cover, chip to back cover, all leather corners scuffed and worn. Carefully packaged and shipped in box. Includes 147 patents dating from 1837 to January, 1872: Making matches; Improvement of Friction matches; Improved machine for matting the ends of match blocks; Framing match splints; Improvement of Parlor Matches; Improvement in composition for lighting cigars; Improvement in methods and apparatus of dipping matches; Compound for preparing the wicks or matches of miner squibs. Book was compiled for George W. Gates son of the famous William Gates who invented and patented match-making machines in 1844. He started a factory in Oshkosh, WI where I obtained the book.
