Two Volumes. 237, 237 pp. Hardcover in original decorated cloth with gilt title on cover and spine. An immaculate set. Previous owner bookplate on front pastedown of both volumes. Not Ex-Lib. The first book to be published by a woman, native of the State, appears to be "Wood Notes: or Carolina Carols. A Collection of North Carolina Poetry," by Tenella. Tenella was Mrs. Mary Bayard Clark, a talented woman who wrote several other volumes of poems.- Cotten. Contains works by Walker Anderson, The Hon. William Gaston, Philo Henderson, Augustus Foster Lyde, and many others. Important and exceedingly rare!
