Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. First Edition (SD). If you are looking for a copy of this book that is Not a library discard and has not been repaired or altered this is that rare chance. In its original publisher's cloth. By my eye, the book is in beautiful condition. The covers and the pages (and the page edges) of this 126-year-old book are Very clean. The gilt lettering on the spine is still bright. The many photographs in the book are in fine condition, exceptionally clean (a tissue guard protects the frontispiece). There is no foxing anywhere in the book. Nor is there any soiling. There are no markings, no writing/underlining, no creasing. I saw only two pages with a tiny tear at their edge. The pages of the book are well-bound, however (and this is the book's only real flaw) you can see a little webbing from the side view between the front inside cover and the first front end paper. That reoccurs, a little more significantly, between the inside of the back cover and the last rear end paper. There is absolutely no detachment or separation of either cover, but it does create a bit of looseness and give in those two places. Again, that is not the case anywhere else in the book and as you leaf through the pages there is a sense of solidity.
