The book consists of the portraits of ecclesiastical, political and civic chiefs of Newcastle Upon Tyne from 1835 - 1900. There is also a brief account of the rise and progress of Newcastle and then lists of the Mayors and Sheriffs; the town council of Borough of Newcastle for 1836; a list of the council for the year ending Oct 31st 1901 and finally the names of those men standing in the elections, with their count from1835 - 1900. A fascinating account of a city on the rise.
