Paris Imprimerie de Didot Ainé Imprimeur du Roi 1824 2 volumes in quarto 27 x 21 cm de 2 feuillets blancs [4], XII, 359, 4,13, pages 1 feuillet blanc, et [4] 512 pages 1 feuillet blanc. L'ouvrage est très richement illustré et soigneusement collationné parfaitement compl…et. Il comprend 2 grandes cartes géographique une du département de Montenotte dans son ensemble et une du Golf e la Spézia. Il est complet des 44 lithographies représentant les principales villes et cités (parmi celles concernant le Piémont : Acqui, Ceva, Dogliani, Garessio, Incisa, Millesimo, Nizza Monferrato , Ormea, Saliceto, S. Stefano Belbo ; parmi ceux de la Ligurie : Alassio, Albenga, Albisola (2), Arenzano, Cairo, Carcare, Dego, Diano Marina, Finale Marina, Finalborgo, Noli, Oneglia, Pieve, Porto Maurizio, Sassello , Savone (2), Varazze. La dernière partie de l'ouvrage est consacrée à un ''Mémoire sur le Golfe de La Spezzia'' (pp. 478-508) ; en effet, la commission française avait également eu pour tâche d'évaluer les dépenses à engager pour l'installation d'une base militaire dans le golfe. Il comprend, en plus de la carte susmentionnée, une grande vue du golfe de Spezia (pliée), une de Portovenere et une des criques de Varignano et delle Grazie. L'auteur (Gilbert- Joseph-Gaspard, comte de Chabrol de Volvic, 1773-1843) était administrateur du département de Montenotte et choisi par Napoléon pour faire partie de la commission scientifique qui le suivit dans l'expédition d'Égypte. ouvrage dédicacé par l'auteur à Lucas de Montigny : " donné par l'auteur à Lucas gage d'estime, d'affection et de reconnaissance paris 1 er fevrier 1826 [signé] Chabrol" La dédicace a un peu bavé sur le titre. Splendide exemplaire que Lucas de Montigny s'est empressé de faire relier à son relieur de prédilection P.Lesné. Plein maroquin rouge à grains longs important décor poussé à chaud coupes et coins finement dorées, toutes tranches dorées. Larges rabats en contreplat finement doré. Garde de papier vert uni. Importante ordonnance pour l île de la Réunion, précédée d un rapport du comte de Chabrol de Crouzol, ministre de la Marine et des Colonies, en date du 21 août 1825, au roi Charles X. Le comte Christophe de Chabrol de Crouzol (1771-1836) fut pair de France en 1823 et ministre de la Marine et des Colonies sous Louis XVIII puis Charles X, dans les ministères Villèle et Martignac de août 1824 à mars 1828. Son ministère fut marqué par d importantes réformes. Il accomplit dans ces fonctions une uvre considérable : l 'application de la loi française aux colonies, la formation du Conseil d amirauté, le rétablissement des préfectures maritimes, l' organisation des équipages de ligne, etc. Enfin, il continua la politique de développement des grands voyages scientifiques de circumnavigation en préparant celui de Dumont d Urville. Destiné au génie militaire, il fut obligé, au début de la Révolution française, de faire campagne comme simple soldat. Revenu dans sa famille, il fut emprisonné avec celle-ci sous la Terreur. Rendu à la liberté en 1795, il entra à l'École polytechnique (promotion 1794) avec le numéro 1, et en sortit premier deux ans après.
