A French devotional work centred on Eucharistic spirituality, comprising prayers, meditations, and preparations for Communion arranged according to Sundays and major feasts of the liturgical year. The work was published posthumously and includes an engraved portrait frontispiece. This copy is particularly notable for the survival of extensive contemporary devotional ephemera preserved loosely within the volumes. These include printed holy cards, feast-day slips, missionary and confraternity souvenirs, and small-format devotional prints, many datable to the nineteenth century. Among them is a handwritten contemporary note quoting Matthew 5:6 ("Ceux qui ont faim et soif de la justice, parce qu'ils seront rassasiés" ) This provides a rare insight into organised lay devotion and the circulation of printed devotional material. Bound in contemporary full calf with gilt-decorated spines, showing uniform wear consistent with sustained devotional use. One leaf shows a small area of paper wear; otherwise the textblocks are complete and sound. The bindings are rubbed and toned, with softened edges and age-patinated surfaces. Internally clean overall, with expected toning. An evocative survival of late eighteenth-century French Catholic devotional culture, enriched by its accumulated, intact devotional accompaniments.
