Soft cover. Condition: Very Good. Joseph L. Concha (illustrator). 1st Edition. Small booklet of 30 or so pages stapled into printed card wrappers, featuring the nature poetry, and abstract artwork, of a teenage student at the Taos Pueblo Day School. There's a foreword by the lad's teacher. Three full page illustrations - two in color, one in black & white. Joseph L. Concha went on to study at the University of New Mexico and eventually published another volume of poems, "Chokecherry Hunters", in 2016. This copy is signed by the young poet inside the front cover. The white card wrappers are a little browned and spotted, as are the page edges, but a very good copy. Signed by Author(s).

1st edition, 1st printing. 28pp, (4.25 x 7 inches). 3 striking full page illustrations by the author, 2 in color. Very Good in stapled illustrated wrappers (softcover). White covers a little sunned (tanned) and lightly soiled, a tiny nick at tail of spine. Otherwise crisp, tight, no tears or creases, no markings. Pages clean and bright. Appears to be SIGNED by the author, who was a student at Taos Pueblo Day School when these poems were written. Signed by Author.

Yet they all carry an undertone of sadness, of the transiency of life, unusual to a young boy. The title poem has the same brooding vision imbuing the great lyrical poetry of the ancient Nahua people of Mexico, the Aztecs and the Toltec poet-king Nezahualcoyotl. In the foreword Frank Waters salutes Concha, not only for his precocious talent and enviable success, but as a growing artist of substance and integrity, ".recording the steps of his way toward that wholeness of spiritual maturity that sometime must be achieved by us all."
