Hardcover. Brown cloth, gilt letters on spine, 164 text pp. plus 105 BW and color plates. Interior does appear clean, though, may have instances of marginalia, handwriting, etc. A rough, but uncommon copy. Photo is of a previous copy from our collection. Approaches the topic geographically, by English counties. Includes discussion of ornament, technique, and iconography; and offers views of more than 100 examples of these wall paintings. Good (Ex-library w/ ID to lower spine, internal stamps, usual markings etc. lower spine torn & flapped; upper spine rubbed. boards scuffed, smudged & some spotted staining. shelf-wear/scuffing to lower textblock edge. slight split to textblock at plate section w/ evidence of previous repair. back hinge split; binding still intact, though hinge is rattled.).
