No Binding. Condition: Very Good. Folio of loose pages, p Printed from the original wood-block engravings. A collection of historical wood-block engravings the subjects of which were found within 30 miles of Salem, and record the history of the region. According to the foreword they were all existent landmarks and relics from the late 1800s, and the engravings are meant to portray life in the early years. A limited edition book (250 copies) was produced in the same year, using the engravings, and these and the ones in the book are the same size. The images have Fowler's initials in the prints. Softcover wraps, 11x15 inches, all printed on heavy paper. Very good condition.

Hardcover in Dust Jacket. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Fine. Constance Fowler (illustrator). Limited Edition. Folio. Unpaginated. Illustrated with 20 plates, each featuring a woodcut. depicting landmarks and relics of early Western settlement. Slight offsetting to front and rear endpapers from dust jacket flaps. In the dust jacket. Both book and dust jacket quite fresh. Fowler created the works in her pursuit of an MFA at Willamette University. Very much a Frank McCaffrey production. McCaffrey's book design is usually marked by either a lingering, perhaps outdated, element of Victoriana, using colored paper and floral effect to a nostalgic fault, or an enthusiastic, and often accomplished, embrace of streamline sans-serif design. This volume is a combination of both. A superb copy with no detracting qualities whatsoever to either book or dust jacket. Dust jacket is now housed in a removable, clear archival sleeve. SMITH, 3239. Not in SOLIDAY.

Add to basketPaperback. Condition: new. Paperback. A young boy, having lost his parents and home, begins to earn a living aboard a pirate ship. One day out at sea he encounters a mermaid who briefly mentions a treasure-filled shipwreck lying on the ocean floor. Although no one believes in his encounter, he strongly believes that she holds the answer to his poverty, and sets out to find her again. He discovers that the treasure comes at a cost which he is not expecting to pay, but through his quest he finds valuable lessons, which he capitalizes on as he travels along. He does so profoundly, and documents this into verses of a song: a song that ultimately reflects his quest for purpose, truth, and identity. This item is printed on demand.
