Blue cloth covered boards with gold lettering on spine. Light nicking to cloth at corner tips and top and bottom of spine. Light to moderate overall scuffing, aging and soiling to covers as well. Binding tight. Pages lightly aged but otherwise unmarked with occasional light spotting and soiling. Black and white illustrations, Short list of authorities, index. An in-depth examination of Dublin's evolution during the Georgian era, focusing on its architectural, social, and economic transformations. Constantia Maxwell (1886 - 1962) was an Irish historian and the first woman to hold a professorship at Trinity College Dublin. Maxwell authored several notable works, including this book and A History of Trinity College Dublin, 1591 - 1892. Her scholarly contributions helped shape modern understanding of Georgian Dublin's society and urban development.

A fascinating account of the French travels of some prominent English writers and travellers, including Tobias Smollet and Laurence Sterne. Dust wrapper has some wear, especially to foot of spine (see photos). Wrapper has some tape repair to rear surface. Frontispiece is slightly loose; binding is perfectly sound otherwise. Slight foxing to page edges. With all faults, a decent copy of an interesting and scarce book.
