Provenance : archives de la comédienne Louise Conte (1923-1995) Le metteur en scène Bernard Ristroph invite Louise à une représentation de L'Exil. En tant que comédien, Ristroph interpréta de nombreux personnages de pièces de Montherlant à la scène : dans La Ville dont le prince est un enfant, en 1967 et 1977 ; dans Le Maître de Santiago, en 1971 ; dans Port-Royal, avec Louise Conte, en 1977 ; dans Brocéliance, avec Louise Conte, en 1984 ; toujours dans des mises en scène de Jean Meyer. * ** Louise Conte est une actrice française, sociétaire honoraire de la Comédie-Française, née le 25 juillet 1923 à Enghien-les-Bains (Val-d'Oise) et morte le 19 octobre 1995 (à 72 ans) à Château-Thierry (Aisne). Engagée dès 1943 à la Comédie-Française Louise Conte en devient, à partir de 1948, sociétaire. Puis, elle est nommée sociétaire honoraire en 1970, ce qui lui permet de continuer à s'y produire. Lors d'une tournée de représentation de La Machine infernale de Jean Cocteau pour la saison 1953/1954, elle croise le chemin de l'acteur dramatique Hubert Rouchon qui deviendra son compagnon. Alors qu'elle poursuit sa carrière d'actrice il se tourne vers l'écriture et le dessin. Le couple fera dans le petit village de Guiseniers l'acquisition d'une propriété que Louise baptisera "Les étonnements". Trop isolés de la capitale, ils s'installèrent finalement à Enghien-les-Bains au 23/25 de la rue des thermes. Du vivant de Montherlant, Louise Conte a créé le rôle de Sur Catherine de Sainte-Flavie dans Port Royal, à la Comédie Française, dans une mise en scène de Jean Meyer, en 1954 ; puis, celui de la reine Jeanne dans Le Cardinal d'Espagne, à la Comédie Française, dans une mise en scène de Jean Mercure, en 1960. Elle reprit, après la mort du dramaturge, le rôle de Sainte-Flavie, toujours dans une mise en scène de Jean Meyer, au Théâtre des Célestins, en 1977 ; puis celui de la Reine Jeanne, dans une mise en scène de Raymond Gérôme, au Théâtre de la Madeleine, en 1989.
