    Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. First Edition. Folio. Full limp vellum, with a large blind decoration on front and rear cover, spine lettered with raised bands, all edges in red; two green ribbon ties on front and rear board; inner hinges tied with parchment and contain writing from an early incunabula. Two books bound in one, with separate title pages and pagination: [6] 644pp [12pp index], 539pp [11pp index]. Ex Library stamp from the Order of Friars Minor Conventional, in the City of Wijchen, Netherlands (appearing on title page, pp. 57 of book one and the verso of title page, book two). Engraved title pages, along with large head and tailpieces in relief; light foxing, a small chip to upper corner on pp. 295 [text unaffected], as well as a chip along outer margin of pp. 475 (very minor affect to text); some wear to lower half of front board, a tear to vellum at foot of spine starting at bottom compartment; upper rear corner worn; boards a bit worn but in fact a very good copy. Adami Contzen (1573-1635) was a professor of philosophy and economist. While residing in Munich, Adami worked on and published this First Edition of commentary on the four Gospels. Adami's religious and political views were important during the Counter-Reformation in Europe.
