Another volume in the fairy tale collections series from this publisher, this one contains 16 stories retold by Ms Turnbull from ones she heard from Indian storytellers, who often mixed up details. She has attempted to restore them to their origin…al forms, & offers them here with new pen-&-ink illustrations by Hazel Cook throughout the 170 pages. Orig. published in 1959, this is the Second Impression from Sept 1960. Hardcover book has royal blue cloth over boards lettered in bright gilt to spine. Condition is VG: very clean, but with staining to endpapers where old DJ mylar was affixed. This old mylar also had black edging, which has left residue around the bottom edges of both boards. We have replaced this old mylar with new, & the DJ is VG: bright & colorful with modest rubbing to extremities. The book's binding is strong & straight, pages creamy white & tanned, heavier to edges, but completely unmarked.
