Van Bommel confirme la commande d'un tabernacle aux fonderies Ravrio à Paris : «Comme vous vous êtes engagé sur l'honneur à fixer en définitif le prix du tabernacle selon les frais de fabrication au prix fixe de vos magazins [sic], j'ai l'espoir qu'en vous ayant fourni un si beau dessin, qui probablement trouvera plus tard plus d'un amateur et ne contribuera pas peu à ajouter à votre renommée, vous trouverez bien le moyen de me faire à moins de 2500 fr le tabernacle seul, attendu que vous ne m'en demandez que 1300 pour les 6 chandeliers et le Christ. Je compte que le tout me conviendra à 3500 fr et si l'ouvrage est bien exécuté, je serai fort content.» Il attend la livraison pour la mi-septembre. L'Évêque de Liège, R.A. Van Bommel s'entretient avec son banquier parisien, le Comte Jean-Gabriel Caccia. Dans la première lettre, il évoque la Révolution belge (1830) ayant mené à l'Indépendance de la Belgique, et ses conséquences financières : «Quant à l'emprunt, il sera très difficile je pense par le temps qui court, de placer beaucoup d'actions, du moins en ce pays. Moi-même, qui viens de perdre par la révolution, dix mille francs de revenu, je ne puis qu'avec de grands efforts en prendre trois pour mon compte. La plupart de mes amis sont encore ou à la campagne, ou à Bruxelles, peu donnent dans ces sortes de spéculations, et tous souffrent par suite de la révolution.» Dans les lettres suivantes, il évoque les difficultés qu'il rencontre avec les fonderies Ravrio à qui il a passé commande d'objets pour sa chapelle. Il finit par donner les pleins pouvoirs à son banquier parisien, le Comte Jean-Gabriel Caccia, dans le règlement de factures auprès des fonderies Ravrio : «Si j'étais bien sûr que j'en serais quitte pour 380 francs, j'accepterais de suite : je vous donne plein pouvoir de terminer avec M. Ravrio pour cette somme, ou de prendre tels autres arrangements qui vous pallieraient d'avantages [sic]. Vous voilà plénipotentiaire : tout ce que vous ferez sera bien, et toujours mille remerciements de toutes vos bontés. J'espère seulement que M.
