"Editio novissima aucta, emendata, & figuris aeneis exornata." 24mo (13cm.); full 19th-century brown morocco, gilt spine in five compartments; [36],158,[20]pp. (collated complete); added engraved title page and eighteen engraved illustrations in text, mostly full-paged. Ex-St. Michael's Monastery with their usual markings, leather slightly rubbed, worm-holing along bottom margin of most of the textblock not quite touching text, else a Good to Very Good, internally clean and sound copy. Generously-illustrated study of the crucifixion by Belgian Augustin monk Cornelius Curtius (1590-1638) adorned with a myriad of representations of Christ on the cross, as well as depictions of the nails used, and views of the crucified feet from the side and from above.

18. Antverpiae (Antwerpen), apud Ioannem Cnobbarum, 1636, small in-4°, title page engraved by Galle after a design by Rubens + xiii nn + 288 pp, with 30 engraved portraits by Corn. Galle after drawings by Jacques Francquart. contemporary full leather, fine gilt decorated spine, marbled endpapers, blue edges. (Some wear at 2 corners, upper joint split over 3 cm, but still a good/fine copy). According to the title-page, Curtius belonged to the same order and was a historiographer and "diffinitor generalis". Corneille de Corte, Brussels ca 1590-1638, was also counsellor to Ferdinand II.
