Pre-Civil War anti-slavery senator from Massachusetts. Illustrated with frontis portrait and several other etchings. Moderate-to-heavy wear of cover extremities; light rubbing to boards. Prior owner name (small, blue, inkstamped) appears on endpapers and in many random margins throughout the book without marring text. (He seemed to get a little carried away!) prior owner name, town, and date also neatly in pencil on front endpaper. Moderate shelf-dust and small area of dampstain at upper page block. Interior otherwise clean and tight.
