With biographical sketches of prominent inhabitants. Volume I is the work of John Corry, an Irish topographer and historian writer, while Volume II the work of Reverend John Evans, a writer and historian. Re-backed with half crushed morocco and brown boards. Externally, tired with bumping to the extremities and the odd mark to the board. Significant loss to the spine of volume two. Hinges tender but generally firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with the odd spot. Fair. book.

Text blocks tight and sound other than for a crack between pp442-443 in Vol. 2. This does not affect the outward appearance of the book, pages are firmly attached. Text generally clean but with foxing here and there, mainly around first and last leaves. The 12 engraved plates are all present, lightly foxed/darkened as usual. iv + 479 + iv + 445 pages. Her passion for literature is displayed by her impressive library.She was an English socialite known for her beauty and for charming various wealthy men, she was included in The Book of Beauty by Cecil Beaton. A patron of the arts, she assisted Viscount Carlow financially in the publication of limited editions of numerous works by leading literary figures such as T E Lawrence, James Joyce, Wyndham Lewis, and others. A hedonistic pursuer, she was recognised as one of the 'Bright Young Things'. In a full cloth binding signed Fazakerley with new endpapers. Externally smart with minor shelf wear and minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine, the spine has slightly faded to both volumes. Internally, firmly bound.
