Buck Ruxton (1899-1936) was an Indian-born physician convicted and subsequently hanged for the September 1935 murders of his common-law wife, Isabella Ruxton, and the family housemaid, Mary Jane Rogerson, at his home in Lancaster. The case became known as the "Bodies Under the Bridge" due to the location, near the Dumfriesshire town of Moffat in the Southern Uplands of Scotland, where the bodies were found. The case was also called the "Jigsaw Murders" because of the painstaking efforts to re-assemble and identify the victims and determine the place of their murder. Ruxton himself earned the title of "The Savage Surgeon" due to his occupation and the extensive mutilation he inflicted upon his victims' bodies. This volume deals with the medico-legal and other scientific aspects of the case, and was undertaken in response to numerous requests from members of th medical and legal professions and from officers of police forces at home and abroad. it is intended for those professionally interested in methods employed in the preparation of medical and other technical evidence. The book is bound in the original blue cloth covered boards with silver titling on the spine. The book is in excellent condition with slight bowing to the boards. The contents are tight and clean with a previous owner's name to the front free endpaper and minor tape marks to the free endpapers. The unclipped dustwrapper is also in excellent condition. PLEASE NOTE: Heavyish book so a little extra may be needed for shipping to non-UK customers.
