Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Limited 1st Edition # 1118. Volume itself has blue cloth covers with gilt lettering on the spine and front cover. The book has a slight slant and there is a bit of wear at the head of the spine and heavier wear at the tail of the spine and some corner wear. Inside the front cover of the book at the top right it appears that a prior owner name and address was present but has been mostly erased. 171 pages, 10 chapters, no apparent underlining, no highlighting, no bookplates, not ex-libris, no remainder marks, no folded or dogeared pages, no foxing, no smudges. Dust jacket is protected in an archival quality Brodart cover. The dj has wear and chipping at the top and bottom of the spine and at corners. On the title page underneath the title is the number 1118. With the book is a paper that states this is a limited first edition copy of The Plywood Age and the number 1118. It goes on to state that to permit one to register it in their name, please fill in the spaces below with the number inside the book, your name and your address. Thank You. The Douglas Fir Plywood Association. Tear Here and the paper is torn so presumably the book is registered in someone's name, maybe the name that was inside the front cover; in all likelihood probably long deceased. At any rate, this is an excellent work commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of fir plywood. Available for immediate shipment, carefully packed in a sturdy box.

This copy is from the publisher's surplus inventory which we acquired along with the magazine's archives -- now housed at the John Hay Library, Brown University, Providence, Rhode Island. Vol. 20 #2, Oct. 1969. Robert Burt DeWaal describes 82 items in "A Bibliography of Sherlockian Bibliographies." Tage La Cour contributes "Ex Bibliotheca Holmesiana, The First Editions of the Writings of Sherlock Holmes." Illustrated with six titlepages (designed by Viggo Naae). Charles Heartman's American Book Collector lasted 36 issues before publication ceased in 1935. In 1950, William B. Thorsen began a new magazine called The Amateur Book Collector. However, he soon received permission from Heartman's widow to change the name to American Book Collector. There were 233 issues published before its demise in 1976.
