Il s'insurge contre le jugement rendu par le tribunal qui est «tellement extraordinaire, tellement incroyable, surtout quand il dit que la destruction de mon groupe ne m'a causé aucun préjudice [.]. C'est vraiment une infamie». Il veut prouver le contraire et dresse le détail de ce que lui a coûté l'exécution de cette sculpture. «Je viens de faire exécuter une nouvelle terre cuite. Je vais vous donner une note exacte de mes dépenses : d'abord, le dit Fiorinelli, soit ineptie, soit mauvais vouloir, a voulu me faire un moule à la gélatine qui donne toujours de piètres résultats et qui est fini après deux épreuves, parce qu'il ne peut durer plus de 4 ou 5 jours. J'ai donc été obligé, pour refaire une épreuve de faire exécuter un moule en plâtre qui m'a coûté 220 fr. La terre qui a servi à estamper 22 f. 4 jours d'estampage à 11 f., 44 f. 6 jours de praticien pour enlever les coutures et retouches à 12 f. la journée, 72 f. 5 journées passées pour le même travail par votre serviteur.
