Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a captivating history of the Ostend Company, a remarkable venture that exemplifies Belgium's resilience and entrepreneurial spirit. In the early 18th century, despite centuries of suppression, the Belgians dared to challenge the maritime dominance of the Dutch and English, who had long stifled their commercial ambitions. The author traces the origins, struggles, and achievements of the Ostend Company, highlighting its pivotal role in Belgium's economic and political landscape. The book delves into the broader context of international trade and colonial expansion, offering insights into the motivations, rivalries, and diplomatic maneuvers that shaped the company's destiny. Ultimately, it explores the enduring legacy of the Ostend Company, whose impact transcended its brief existence and continues to resonate in Belgium's maritime heritage. Paperback. Condition: Good.
