Head and tail of spine lightly bumped and rubbed. Binding is neat and tidy. Page edges are rubbed and lightly discoloured, moreso at the head edge. Some browning and foxing of free endpapers, title pages and parts of the occasional page, otherwise this book is in good condition. Dust wrapper has some rubbing at the edges. Back cover lightly scratched and bears one small stain. Head and tail of spine thumbed. Prev owner bookplate inside front cover which has caused offset toning to title page. With Compliments stamp of the author to title page. One of the first autobiographies of a Torres Strait Islander. The author recounts his life as a diver on pearl luggers in the Torres Straight and along the Great Barrier Reef; his time in the army during WWII, and various jobs on his return including on the railways and at an Abroiginal mission in the Gulf country, finally retiring to Cairns. Size: 8vo.
