Add to basketHardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. 1 leaf; 74 chromolithographic plates, each with explanatory text leaf. Top edge gilt. Folio. Contemporary 1/4-leather and marbled boards. Worn along edges of boards and at corners of covers. Foxed. First Edition. The relationship between the undated Iconographie and Cullerier's Préci…s iconographique des maladies vénériennes--cxx, 488 pp, 74 plates, published in 1866--is not clear. The Iconographie, which is an atlas volume only, has the same 74 plates as the Précis, but they are printed in larger format and on thicker paper. I have found some contemporary references to the Iconographie, citing a date of 1867. My own hypothesis is that the Iconographie was published at about the same time as the Precis as a deluxe version of the plates. Cullerier's Précis was translated into English as Atlas of Venereal Diseases (1868). Hirsch VI: 660.
