Firmly bound volume despite defects, lacks last page of rear index with subjects ending at "Shortness of Breath", covers detached but present, speckling to pages, lower half of leather lacking at spine.

[xv],386,[8]pp. Orig. calf, raised spine bands, red morocco spine label, gilt-chamfered edges. Front board nearly detached, wear to spine ends, small chip to front upper free corner, light toning, else very good. The most famous herbal in English, first published in 1652 and commonly known as "Culpeper's Herbal." With the bookplate of Harvey Cushing (1869-1939), a neurosurgeon, pathologist, writer, and draftsman. A pioneer of brain surgery, he was the first exclusive neurosurgeon and the first person to describe Cushing's disease.

New edition. Pagination: [I-XII]; [1]-345; [I-iii]. Rebound (rather clumsily) in marbled boards with black calf leather spine; hand-written paper title label on spine; new end papers. Some marks & small stains on pages; minor loss at corners of some pages - generally as expected for a book of this age.
