There is a pencil name inscription on the front pastedown, light foxing to half-title page and very lightly scatttered throughout. Small repair to lower fore corner of clear leaf following title page. All else clean and firm inside. Firm boards with… pictorial pastedown to front board and a cloth spine. Colour illustrated title page and 32 pages of delightful coloured illustrations, text above and below. Foxhound puppies get up…to every sort of prank. Corners and board edges slightly rubbed, tiny chips to surface at top and bottom edges of boards, head and tail of spine just very slightly worn, minute nick in spine cloth. Endpapers slightly browned, half-title foxed and last page slightly foxed, occasional faint foxing to margins. A very good clean bright copy. The reprints are smaller (270 mm, 10¾" tall) with a mounted colour plate on the cover. J. A. Shepherd (1867-1946) was an animal painter known for humorous drawings of animals with human clothing and personalities.
