The two major political figures in Clitheroe at the time, Thomas Lister (Later Lord Ribblesdal…e) and Assheton Curzon (Later Viscount Curzon), who hada shared equal representation as MP's until Lister played a trick on his partner which gave him an increased number of burgages. The two former friends fell out and each published his own side of the story. This is Curzon's. Rare.
