The author presents a detailed analysis of the two proposed routes: a direct line connecting the two cities and an alternative route that would have included several detours. The author argues that the direct line was the superior option, as it would have been shorter, more efficient, and less expensive to build. The book also provides a glimpse into the political and economic factors that influenced the decision-making process. The insights in this book offer lessons for contemporary infrastructure projects, emphasizing the importance of careful planning and thoughtful consideration of all available options. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
