Custer's classic account of his experiences fighting Indians on the Plains, especially in the region between the Missouri and the Rocky Mountains. The work covers the period from Gen. Winfield Hancock's Kansas expedition in the spring of 1867 to the defeat of Black Kettle on the Washita on Nov. 27, 1868. Published only two years before Custer's last stand at Little Big Horn.
