Signed presentation from Cutting at the top of the front cover, to a fellow professor: "Professor Merrill, with compliments of Starr W. Cutting." With the blindstamp of Prof. Elmer T. Merrill on the front cover. Both Cutting and Merrill were professors at the University of Chicago, with Merrill being a Latin scholar and Cutting in the college's Department of Education, specializing in German studies.
