Published by New Orleans, LA - [New York]: John A. Gresham - [D. Appleton & Co.], [1869]., 1869
Seller: David Hallinan, Bookseller, Columbus, MS, U.S.A.
64 pages (including covers). Stitch-bound paperback: H 23.25cm x L 15cm. Some chips, soiling, stains, and foxing as well as creased/curled corners. Catalogue dated for June 1, 1869 near top of page 3. The catalog is most likely not an actual New Orleans imprint but almost undoubtedly printed and prepared by Appleton for Gresham who was probably their primary retailer in the Crescent City (New Orleans was the 9th largest city in the U.S. by population in 1870). An interesting look at what was available (certainly not all in stock but orderable) to a New Orleans reader in the post-Civil War city at the onset of Reconstruction. John A. Gresham's bookstore was located at 92 Camp Street but that address no longer exists (New Orleans renumbered its streets in the 1890s) but likely correlates to a building on what is now the 100 block of Camp Street which abuts downtown Canal Street and continues in the French Quarter as Chartres Street.

One of ten children of George Hampton Young who owned the architecturally renowned Waverly Plantation on the west bank of the Tombigbee River between Columbus and West Point, Mississippi, Lucy Watkins Young (1841-1933) married widower, Confederate Army veteran, and Columbus physician Lt. Col. James Oliver Banks (1829-1904) in May 1870. Their marriage produced five children all of whom survived to adulthood and the Banks-Young progeny enjoyed Mississippi and Alabama real estate and land holdings in the cities of Columbus and Eutaw as well as in Lowndes County, Clay County, Tuscaloosa County, and Greene County.
