El conflicto se irá acentuando con la transformación emocional del cura y los cambios naturales, fÃsicos, que sufre el adolescente con el paso del tiempo, quien se va alejando del ideal de amor perfecto y platónico con el que el cura quiere engañarse, para transformase en una perturbadora atracción fÃsica que a este le resulta inaceptable. El tema central, pues, es el amor, como fuente de vida, pasión y muerte y, también, la falta de aceptación de los propios sentimientos, de la propia naturaleza.Sevilla es el escenario en el que trascurre la acción.
