Perhaps the best photographic documentary extant of the life of post-emancipation African-Americans in the South. Incredibly poignant images, from glass plates made by Leigh Richmond Miner and discovered during the restoration of an old school building on St. Helena's Island. A rare and desirable book. -- Dust jacket has tears and edhe wear, repaired and in mylar -- Book itself is in near-fine condition, boards are flawless.
