Importante fonte diplomatica per la storia dei rapporti diplomatici fra la Gran Bretagna e lo Stato Vaticano, per la maggior parte inedita, i cui originali sono conservati nell'Archivio Vaticano (Nunziature d'Inghilterra, 10-15). Della ricchissima serie di dispacci e lettere dei Nunzi Apostolici, sono stati per ora editi quelli relativi alle Nunziature di Germania e Austria, Belgio, Francia ed altri paesi, ma non quelli d'Inghilterra. Il protocollo di Ferdinando D'Adda (1649-1719), Nunzio in Inghilterra dal 1685 al 1668, risulta pubblicato parzialmente in Appendice all'opera: J. Mackintosh. History of the Revolution in England is 1688. London, 1834. I dispacci coprono tutto il periodo della Nunziatura d'Inghilterra e sono diretti al Segretario di Stato Card. Alderamo Cybo. Il Pastor XVI, II, 368 e segg., nota come il D'Adda si adoperò, nella sua azione diplomatica presso il re Giacomo II, per il ritorno dell'Inghilterra al cattolicesimo. Book.
