Audio CD. Condition: Neu. Mit ğLove Is A Careless SeaĞ, ğMy Head Is A NightclubĞ, ğCapacity TravelĞ, ğThe Song Of The JazzmanĞ, ğDear Olde Benny Green Is A-Turning In His GraveĞ und anderen. 0 pp. Deutsch.

Unbound. Condition: Fine. Printed ticket. 3.75" x 2.25". Neat ink number, else fine. Ticket for a tour of Daevid Allen and Gong, a quasi-mystical science fiction band with an amorphous lineup and with something of a cult following. Includes a reprint of a New York Times Review by John Rockwell of a performance at CBGBs which describes their earliest incarnation as "an anarchic, communal European progressive, jazz-rock band." It goes on to say that this incarnation of Gong is New York-based "under the wing of Giorgio Gomelsky and his Zu 'alternative production lab'. The central figure is an 'interplanetary poet' named Daevid Allen." Founded in 1967, and still active, according to the Wikipedia: "Gong is a Franco-British rock band formed by Australian musician Daevid Allen." An interesting and little known musical effort in some ways reminiscent of Crass.

paperback. Condition: Fine. Un fumetto . Cm 17,5x14,5. pp. 12. . Ottimo (Fine). . . . Book.

The outer box is in very good condition but is slightly worn & lightly stained in a way that doesn't show up on our pictures. ; 19 x 19.5 x 2.4 cms; Daevid Allen was an influential figure in the world of progressive rock, best known as the founder of the band Gong. His work spans music, art, philosophy, and conceptual storytelling, often blending surrealism, humor, and spirituality. Allen's approach was eclectic and avant-garde, heavily influenced by his interest in mysticism, Eastern philosophies, and a desire to break away from traditional musical forms. Allen's musical career began in the late 1960s, where he became known for his role in the formation of the Canterbury scene, a group of experimental musicians in the UK. He was involved with bands like Soft Machine and Gong, where he merged jazz, rock, and psychedelia in groundbreaking ways. His work with Gong is where he made the most significant impact, blending complex jazz rock with spiritual and mystical themes. One of the key elements of Allen's work was his creation of the Gong universe, a whimsical and surreal narrative woven throughout their albums. This universe involved characters like the Pot Head Pixies, Zero the Hero, and The Radio Gnome Invisible, creating an elaborate mythology that tied into the band's music. The blend of humor and deep philosophical themes gave Gong a unique position within the progressive rock movement, where their music was often both intellectually stimulating and deeply psychedelic. Allen was also known for his solo work, where he continued his exploration of similar themes but often in a more intimate or experimental format. His albums often combined storytelling with music, and his projects like University of Errors and The Pot Head Pixies continued to explore his fascination with mythology, the absurd, and the intersections between the metaphysical and the everyday. Beyond his music, Allen was a painter and a writer, using these mediums to further explore and express his unique worldview. His work often transcended typical rock music, venturing into the realms of conceptual art and performance. His albums, such as Banana Moon and The University of Errors, are emblematic of his approach: mixing playful, surreal themes with complex, layered compositions. Throughout his career, Daevid Allen's work remained a celebration of individuality, imagination, and the exploration of the unknown, making him an enduring figure in the world of progressive rock and avant-garde music. His unique combination of humor, spirituality, and surreal storytelling continues to influence artists within and outside the genre.
